Elevator Pitch
We raise beetles using sawdust, preventing it from being burned and turning waste into sustainable production. We produce for export, generating income and reducing poaching. A scalable model that promotes the circular economy and Amazonian conservation.
Climate Problem
Burning wood chips generates CO₂ emissions and air pollution. In addition, poaching reduces beetle populations. The project transforms waste into sustainable production, reducing emissions and protecting Amazonian biodiversity.
Solution
We transform sawdust into substrate for raising beetles in controlled systems, preventing it from being burned and reducing emissions. We produce for legal markets and export, thereby reducing poaching. In this way, we turn waste into a sustainable source of income.
Revenue Model
We generate revenue by selling live and preserved beetles for export and to collectors. In addition, we sell the organic fertilizer produced by the larvae to farmers, creating multiple sustainable and scalable sources of income.
Target Market
Our target market includes collectors and international markets specializing in insects, as well as companies and distributors interested in natural and educational products. We also serve local farmers who are looking for sustainable organic fertilizer.
Social Impact
People Living in Extreme Poverty, Women
Demand Evidence
We assess demand through consultations and contacts with customers interested in beetles. In addition, there is an active international market of collectors and exporters, which confirms the demand for these products.
Competitors
Organic fertilizer is available in other parts of Peru. There are no legal beetle farms in Peru.
Founder Expertise
I have experience in raising beetles and managing larvae, as well as knowledge of using sawdust as a substrate. I have developed a practical system for sustainable production and understand the insect market, which enables me to implement it.
