Elevator Pitch

Ubuntu collaborative network connects people and resources for the common good. It uses surplus from sustainable farms, transforming it into longer-lasting products. It generates income through collaboration, sales, and barter.

Climate Problem

We address food waste and related emissions in local agricultural systems. Surplus from sustainable farms is lost due to lack of processing and market access. Reducing this is key to lowering emissions and strengthening resilience and local economies.

Solution

We offer a collaborative network that rescues agricultural surplus and turns it into higher-value, longer-lasting products. We connect producers, processors, and markets, reducing waste and emissions while generating local income through sales and barter.

Revenue Model

It generates income through sales of value-added products made from surplus, partnerships with local shops and markets, and barter systems. It also includes memberships, processing services, and alliances with regenerative initiatives.

Target Market

Our target market is Valle Machuca, a growing region with increasing population driven by people arriving from around the world and the development of ecovillages, creating demand for local and sustainable products.

Social Impact

Indigenous Peoples, Migrants, Women

Demand Evidence

We are a nonprofit association operating a community market for 3 years, with steady growth in attendance. Additionally, other bioregions in Costa Rica have shown interest in replicating and participating in the project.
